Christmas Outfit: Green Dress and Blanket Scarf

I think we are all aware that there are 180 wonderful ways to wear a blanket scarf. One of my favorite ways to wear them is simply paired with a similar color scheme. Personally, I'm just not one to wear a ton of pattern mixing or crazy colors. I just like the classic look of a plaid scarf paired with similar colors but that's just me! I know a lot of girls can pull off the multiple patterns beautifully but I don't feel that I'm one of those ladies :)

Here I've paired my blanket scarf with a comfy green dress for a semi-casual Christmas look. You could easily dress this outfit up a little, as I did with accessories, or make it even more fancy with some heels and a nice peacoat for a Christmas party! My family doesn't really do anything fancy for Christmas so this would be a perfect outfit for my holiday festivities because it's versatile enough for pictures, relaxing around the house or going out to eat - all features you want in an outfit!

The "original" blanket scarf (the one I'm wearing) is still one of my favorites! It has so many colors in it so you can pair it with a lot of different items. The one I'm wearing here is the first blanket scarf I ever bought and scored it for just $11 on eBay and it's been cut in half. Since I live in Dallas, it rarely gets cold enough to bundle up in a full size blanket scarf so cutting it in half was a great decision! Plus, you get two amazing scarves for only $11!

PS - I'll be making a tutorial for cutting your blanket scar in half soon! Keep a lookout if that's some information you're interested in and let me know in the comments below!

I have never been a "pops of color" kind of girl; I just like neutral colors and calmer colors. I commonly wear black and white, and shades of brown. I just love that you can mix a bunch of neutrals together to make an amazingly chic outfit.

If you are a fan of winter clothes, neutral colors, and giveaways, be sure to check out the style challenge I'm hosting with some amazing girls over on Instagram this week! A Cute and Comfy Sweatshirt

I'm not typically a sweatshirt kind of girl but this adorable sweatshirt from Chantilly has won me over.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that this is one of the most comfortable sweatshirts I have ever worn! It kind of feels like a mixture fleece and the softest texture on the planet. I also love that it's loose, yet form fitting - if that even makes sense. I don't like tops that are too large on me with no shape. And this is one of the things I usually dislike about sweatshirts - they just look like a potato sack on me. I have a pretty small frame so I'm more aware of that happening and I'm sure a lot of you can empathize with me. In this "Meet Me at Lover's Lane" sweatshirt, I don't feel like it's swallowing me. I actually want to wear it all the time now!

If you're a Dallas girl like me, or simply are looking for a fabulous new sweatshirt in your life, this is the one you need!

This gorgeous quilted messenger bag is also from Chantilly and I adore it. Obviously, it's adorable and will look great with any outfit, but I also love that there are so many compartments and nooks inside! You could say I have a little OCD in my blood, so bags with no compartments drive me a little nutso. With this bag, there are different holders, zippers and panels, and it just makes my heart so happy to be organized!

You can shop Chantilly's fashion and accessory line online at www.chantillydallas.com or on Instagram at @chantillydallas.

Sweater Vest and a Drusy Tassel Necklace

If you're like me, you may follow a few Instagram "closet" accounts. You know, the ones where people sell their gently used clothes? Kind of like an online Plato's Closet. Well, I follow a few of these but never end up buying anything due to price, sizing or merely not knowing what it'll look like in person - side note, I don't think floor lays are a great portrayal because it's almost impossible to see how it'll actually look on a person (in most cases). I saw this cream sweater vest pop up in someone's IG closet and it was one of those ah-ha moments where you see something and think "oooh I need that!" And let me tell you, I am so happy I got it! Plus, it was only $10 so you can't beat that price. I'm not sure where it's from, maybe from a boutique because the tags aren't familiar to me but I tried linking the most similar ones that I could find below.

I love this sweater vest because it's a neutral color and will go with everything, it's cozy and cute, and perfect for fall weather! And it could be great for some upcoming style challenges as well :)

I think I'm going to do a 3-part styling session with this vest too... So stay tuned!

Now that I've raved on a bit about this vest, let me talk about this gorgeous druzy necklace. Thanks to a bunch of my lovely IG friends spreading the word about this necklace, I had to get one from Modern Chic Boutique. Each month, this boutique gives away a free item and you only pay for shipping. Again, what a deal! So I ended up getting this necklace for only $7 and wish I had gotten more than one color when I had the chance!! Follow them on IG to get the updates about free products and you can shop this exact necklace from the link below.

Floppy Hat for Fall

I'm so excited about this post for two different reasons: One, I finally got some non-selfie pictures taken by my amazing husband (even if they were shot on my old digital camera that makes grainy lines.... How many days until Black Friday!?) and two, I've had this floppy hat for a few months and have been waiting to wear it!! I'm very easily pleased, if you can't tell :)

When I first started getting into blogging, my husband thought it was so silly and always teased me about taking selfies. Well, I kept telling him that I wouldn't have to take selfies if he would take pictures of me, but he wasn't having it and I eventually gave up asking. Two years later and he's finally come around! He realizes that fashion and blogging are two things that I am passionate about and he wanted to start really supporting me. I promise he's an amazing man and supports me in everything I do; He just doesn't "get" fashion because he has zero interest in it, as most guys do ;) Him doing such a small gesture like offering to follow me around and take my pictures makes my heart happy. I love him!

And I must say, I absolutely love the floppy hat trend that's going on. I had been on the hunt for the perfect one for the last couple of months and finally found the one from Cotton On back in August. I was so excited because not only was it an amazing color and fit, but it was only $16! #jackpot. Since cooler temperatures don't hit Texas until later in the year, I had been putting off wearing it for that reason. Well, the chillier weather has hit and the burgundy hat has come out to plaaaay! And what better time to debut it than during out first week of Haute in October!? A few gorgeous IG girls and myself are hosting a style challenge for each week of this month - if you aren't familiar with it, check out #hauteinoctober or my post over on Instagram!
