Sleepy Sunday

Not much has been going on today except attending church, going to lunch, cleaning up the house a bit and watching a Law & Order: SVU marathon. As much as I miss my family, it is nice to have a calm day with my husband and the puppies.. Maybe it's time for a little power nap before dinner.

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Only a couple days until NYE.. Can't wait to see all the cute outfits!

Saturday Shenanigans

Baby Tank is still getting potty trained so he has been waking us up in the middle of the night to tell us he needs to go potty. We take him out, bring him back in and thankfully he usually goes back to sleep. Last night we got up at 4 am but got to sleep in until 10 today!! David was out playing basketball and came home and told me to get ready for lunch. I didn't have time to do my hair which means I threw it in a braid, duh. We ended up going to Maggiano's - YUMMY - with some friends visiting from out of town. We ran a few errands then took the puppies on a long walk. It was a beautiful, sunny day. It has been a perfect Saturday!

Time to Share Our Love

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!

We have had a fun-filled morning of present opening, home cooked breakfast and hanging out. I love watching my family open their presents on Christmas morning and seeing their reactions to my presents. I love the giving spirit and happiness that encompasses Christmas.

After some relaxing time, we walked to Starbucks to get some drinks and snacks, then took the pups for a walk around our country club. It has been a great day :)

I got some AMAZING presents this Christmas but here are a few of my faves: Haley got me some cute little bracelets and David me a Michael Kors watch, woo hoo! My first one :)

We also got a new puppy for Christmas!!! He is actually Miley's grandson and they already love each other.

 Meet Tank!!

It's Christmas Eve!!

Happy Christmas Eve, everyone!!

One of my families Christmas Eve traditions is having dinner at Chili's. I can't remember why, but a few years ago we decided to get dinner there for Christmas Eve and the tradition has stuck ever since! After we stuffed ourselves, we went around to look at Christmas lights. I love having my family here and spending time with them for the holidays. Life couldn't be more perfect right now.

Haley loves matching outfits when we are together and here is one of our twin outfits:

Ihop Brunch

Today, both my sisters were craving Ihop so I think you can guess where we went for brunch.. Our whole family were fatties eating pancakes with frosting, and custard filled french toast. So delicious and so much diabetes! I had salted caramel hot chocolate and it was the best hot chocolate my taste buds has ever experienced. I highly recommend going to get one before the holidays end and they are off the menu! It goes great with this frigid weather :)

MY FAMILY IS HERE

Today marked the arrival of my family which means it is finally feeling like Christmas!! They made a grueling 18 hour road trip to be with us in Dallas for Christmas and I am so unbelievably thankful for that! Now I am even more excited about the holiday season - didn't know that was possible!

My youngest sister, Haley, is such a little diva. She is into intricate nail art and dressing like her sisters. She is definitely a future fashionista! Here, she is wearing one of my leopard scarves and her new cowboy boots. Although I am not a fan of cowboy boots, you can't deny how absolutely adorable she looks!

Christmas Party

Tonight was our bible class and small group's Christmas party and ornament exchange! The house it was hosted at was an absolute beauty. It was in a fancy neighborhood in Plano and was a mansion! I really loved the party; we made some new friends and got a cute sock monkey ornament.

David looks genuinely happy in this picture so I am probably going to blow it up and frame it in the living room :) (he's not a smiley kind of guy)

A German Christmas

David and I got invited to go see this German Christmas Festival in Arlington and it was interesting to say the least. David's academy buddy has a foreign wife who loves going to things like this so we joined them! All the signs were in German and then festival was tinier than we had anticipated. David and I got hot chocolate and churros while our friends had some hot wine (guess that's an overseas thing?) and some crepes. It was freezing and fun, but I don't think we will be doing it again..

BEYONCE, I WILL LOVE YOU TILL THE END OF TIME

Monday night was the best night of my life!!! Not really, but certainly close to it.. My mom got me 2 tickets to Beyonce for my birthday! Unfortunately, my sister couldn't get here because of all the ice so my husband went with me, haha. He loved it but he will never admit it. Our seats were 5 ROWS away from the stage!! I was in awe. Beyonce is thee most talented singer, dancer and performer. Whoever says otherwise, is an idiot. She's perfect and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to!

SHE'S SO AMAZING OH MY GOODNESS

Crazy, Beautiful Life

Oh my goodness last week was so busy! My sister was here, we celebrated David's birthday, Thanksgiving, and my birthday was yesterday! So, sorry for the extra long post.

For Thanksgiving, it was only me, David, and Kelly and it was surprisingly fun! Our "cooking" was very miniscule. We bought a lot of pre-made stuff, oops. None of us can cook well or really like it so we just had a makeshift thanksgiving dinner. I wouldn't change it for anything! Kelly and I "made" the sides and David actually did the turkey all by himself! He had to call his dad every once in a while to see what to do next, but it came out great and we were all proud of him!

And Miley was especially thankful for her glorious turkey dinner.

Yesterday I turned 24 - ah, how crazy! David was amazingly sweet and made my birthday really special. He left notes all around our apartment, some with directions to his computer and instructions on logging in and opening a document. The document was titled "24 Reasons Why I Love You." I read it with my morning coffee and teared up. He isn't any kind of emotional so this was extra special! Then he came home from work with gifts for me he bought all by himself! I was surprised by this because it was CLOTHES and he never ventures out to buy me clothes. I love the top and fuzzy socks! After that, we went to Cheesecake Factory - woo hoo! My favorite place. THEN we went to Target and bought some Christmas decorations!!! This was also extra special because David doesn't like spending much money (lol) and he isn't the hugest lover of Christmas so him offering to go Christmas/stocking shopping was super nice! He knows how much I am obsessed with Christmas and I'm glad he still loves me through my ridiculousness :)

Life of a Curlaholic

So I have been getting an itch for a hair change lately but I'm too scared to dye my hair and I will never get a different hair cut. I'm too stubborn and love my long hair. So instead of doing something drastic, like either of the previously mentioned changes, I decided to toy around with my hair a little bit..

My usual regime is pretty simple: I wash my hair with curly shampoo (I switch between Pantene and Treseme) and condition with Herbal Essence. I know that is a lot of different products but for my hair, it works best to switch around. Then all I do after I get out of the shower is put some Garnier Fructis Curl Constructing Mousse and wait 6 hours for my hair to dry. This is not an exaggeration. My hair takes that long to dry and that's with me periodically drying it with a diffuser. Such a pain but worth it! I usually shower at night so the next morning I can curl it with my wand when my hair is dry. I only wand the top layer because my hair is pretty wavy so the mix between the wand curls and my natural curls underneath mesh together well and hey, it takes me less time than doing most of my hair. It takes me about 20-30 minutes to curl the top layer. Here is a picture of my everyday hair..

I have been doing it like this for years and I love it.. Except for waiting for it to dry. I don't like going out looking like a wet mop so I wash my hair on nights when my husband and I have no plans.

So after reading some blogs and talking to friends, I decided to take on a little different tactic on my hair. I don't think it is a drastic change, but it was different enough for me. So the alternative hair regime is shower, wash with the same shampoos, blow dry all of my hair, sleep on it and curl with a curler the next morning, but use the curler as a wand. I don't clamp my hair, I just wrap the hair around the curler, just like you would do with a wand. It took me an HOUR to curl my entire head. An hour. That's a long time to be curling hair! I've done it twice and then I was over it. However, I do like the way my hair looks...

Like I said, not a huge difference, just different timing. So here is my dilemma..
- I can either shower and mousse, wait 6+ hours to dry but curling only takes 20ish minutes
OR
- I can shower and blow dry and have instant dry hair, but take an hour to curl.

I just realized I don't even know why I am posting this.. I'm sure no one cares about my different hair processes. Soooooo.. Happy Thursday. I have no life. Goodbye.
