Scarf Love

Sunday consisted of church, grocery shopping and small group. What's new? Our Sundays are the same every week but hey, I'm not complaining!

Necklace: Ciao Bella Boutique (no longer in stock)
Scarf: I can't remember!
(These oatmeal colored scarves are everywhere, though)
Dress: Forever 21
Cardigan: Target
Tights: Target
Boots: The Shoe Dept.

Yesterday I went to ship out a new painting and the post office was closed for Veteran's Day. How come I never think about this before I run errands? I'm a dumb dumb. So I ended up buying some holiday decorations :) David has very, very strong feelings about not decorating for Christmas until Thanksgiving is over so I have to subtly and slowly sneak decorations in.. It's kind of fun, actually.

Anyways, here is what I wore and here is the painting I'm shipping out soon! I got compliments from a guy about my hair and scarf, then about my mixed prints. Small compliments like that definitely make your day but it also got me thinking about the "mixing prints" epidemic and how much I love it. Some of the mixing I have seen is a little too crazy for my taste, but hey, if that's what you like then that's what you like! I hope that everyone has played around with mixing their prints at least a few times...

Necklace: Ciao Bella Boutique
Top: Forever 21

You can order your own custom-made painting at my Etsy shop here. I love designing new and original paintings and always welcome an idea for a new creation!

Happy Tuesday!

Scarves and Boots

The weather in Dallas yesterday was rather surprising. It has been on and off chilly for the last couple of weeks but yesterday was probably the coldest it's been since we've been here! My phone said 57 degrees but it forgot to inform me that it actually felt like 30. I could have bundled up more but I am in no way complaining; I am loving this weather! However, I have yet to give into my over-sized sweaters. I'm trying to save those until they are vital to wear.

One thing that has been bugging me the past couple months is the fascination that everyone has with giving into new trends/traditions RIGHT when they come out.. By this I mean, girls raced to Starbucks the day that PSLs came out, they put on boots and scarves at the first sign of a wind chill and they will now be chugging down peppermint mocha coffees until the end of December. Don't get me wrong, I definitely love myself a PSL, sweet sweater, perfect boot and peppermint mocha but why pull them out the first day you possibly can? I'm not switching out my pumpkin flavored drinks and smells for peppermint ones for a few more weeks, at least!
Am I the only one holding off on my peppermint mochas and over-sized sweaters?

Scarf: Dallas Market

Boots: $1.50 thrift store find (my proudest purchase!)

What a Wonderful Weekend!

Yesterday we headed to the Dallas Zoo! Unfortunately half of the zoo was closed for a special fundraiser event but on the bright side, admission was less than half the price. Ya win some, ya lose some. After the delightful day at the zoo, we gave my sister a little tour of Dallas and the ritzy homes of Highland Park. David and I finally got to do all the "touristy" things we haven't done yet. It was fun! We got Chipotle for dinner and ended our Saturday with some Modern Family. I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day!

Today has consisted of church and lunch at Maggiano's - delish! Kelly packed up her stuff and headed back to Searcy... I miss her already. Good thing we will be seeing her again this weekend along with the rest of the Florida fam :) CAN'T WAIT!
